Kidscreen announces that the Asian Animation Summit, its annual event showcasing Asia Pacific’s best new animated series in development for children, is offering a new Wild Card program this year that’s open to creators in the region who are not represented by the trade agencies that are AAS partners.

Project submissions for this new fee-based pathway will be accepted online until Friday, August 16.

Producers who are selected to participate will benefit from seven hours of pre-event mentoring with Michael Carrington, a former CBeebies controller and ABC TV head of children’s, in order to prepare to present their projects live at the event. The program also offers six one-on-one pitch meetings with buyers/investors.

The Wild Card program is available online, click here for more information.

Hosted by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA), AAS 2024 is set to take place at the W Hotel in Taipei City from November 19 to 21.

Attendees will spend three days taking in presentations of new animated TV concepts for kids that are in development all over the Asia Pacific region, with plenty of time built into the schedule for meetings and networking.

Now in its ninth year, the Asian Animation Summit has demonstrated an impressive rate of success. More than 50% of the projects that have been presented at the event over the years have made it into production. And global preschool hit Bluey was discovered by BBC Worldwide at the 2016 edition.

The event attracts animation producers who are interested in co-producing projects with Asian partners, as well as broadcasters, distributors and investors from both Asia Pacific and the international marketplace. Roughly 200 participants are expected to attend this year.
