Film and series adaptations are the focus of this year’s Frankfurter Buchmesse. At Book-to-Screen Day on Friday, October 18 filmmakers from all over the world will have the opportunity to discover new stories, characters and ideas from the international book industry.
With its book-to-screen activities, Frankfurter Buchmesse connects player from the publishing industry with production companies. During the week October 16 – 20, the fair will be offering a series of events where publishers and agents can meet film producers to discover and discuss the books with the best potential for film, series or screen adaptation. Decision-makers and experts from the international publishing industry will be discussing what opportunities do the film, streaming and games industries offer when it comes to rights and licensing.
From Wednesday, October 16 through Friday, October 18, there will be a dedicated meeting space for producers to connect with publishing professionals from around the world in THE ARTS+ lounge in Hall 4.1. For international filmmakers, this is an opportunity to discover new stories, characters, and ideas from all over the world in one place.
On Friday, 18 October, Book-to-Screen Day will feature a site tour for international production executives (9.30 –10.30 AM); a masterclass on best practices for first steps in the book-to-screen business with producer Delphine Clot and book rights expert Maÿlis Vauterin, founders of the Paris-based book-to-screen agency Matriochkas (10:00 – 10:45 AM, THE ARTS+ stage, Hall 4.1); an exclusive matchmaking event in cooperation with Berlin Fim Festival between publishers, literary agencies and international producers (11:00 AM – 1:00 PM); and a gathering event with drinks for publishing, film and games professionals (6:00PM in THE ARTS+ area in Hall 4.1).
