For the first time, Cartoon Forum offers a networking opportunity after the pitching sessions. One-to-one meetings will be organised on Thursday 19 September 2024 from 3:40pm to 5:40pm.
CARTOON’s main focus is to show the role of books and animation in building content for children, teens, young adult audiences, and readers. Nowadays, it is also important to strengthen the links between publishing and animation by both fostering books-to-screen adaptations and maintaining a platform for publishers to invest more in book adaptations from animated TV series.
Thanks to the partnership with the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the world’s leading children’s publishing event, not only the publishing industry has the great opportunity to network with the animation world, but also the animation producers can discover business opportunities by meeting Italian and international publishers.
We at EAJ inquired with the Italian Publishers Delegation about their perspective on being a representative group of the country at Cartoon Forum.

Paola Francesca Corsini
Licensing & Dramatic Rights Specialist, Editrice il Castoro
We are delighted to participate in the 35th edition of the Cartoon Forum thanks to the invitation of the BCBF. It will be a valuable opportunity to appreciate the projects in development and the IPs of the future, and to present our publishing proposals to the production companies we will meet. Both the Italian audiovisual market and international publishers are showing that they love the stories we publish: 10 of our titles are currently under option and development and our books are translated into 38 languages. We hope that the Cartoon Forum will be an opportunity to broaden our horizons further, open up new frontiers of collaboration, and make Editrice Il Castoro’s books known to an increasingly wide and diverse audience.
Emanuele Di Giorgi
Managing Director, Tunué
As Tunué, we participate in the Cartoon Forum with pleasure. We are eager to study and learn about new trends, and discover and learn about IPs from all over the world. We are also evaluating and selecting offers that have come in for Pera Toons in the audiovisual world.
Gaia Stock
Editorial Director, Edizioni EL
Our publishing house has been publishing books for children and young people for 50 years and has always been oriented towards more traditional publishing. Rarely have we published books based on cartoons, animated films, or starring characters that have become popular in other sectors. But we have always been very curious about areas tangential to our industry, and what a better place than the Cartoon Forum fair to delve into the world of animation? We are therefore really excited and look forward to discovering what opportunities may arise in the future, linking our past and present to the future that we have to ‘foresee’, with great attention to the world that is constantly and rapidly evolving and to the tastes of today’s children and young people.
Francesco Zamboni
Foreign rights editor and Silent Book Contest coordinator, Carthusia Edizioni
It is with great pleasure that Carthusia Edizioni has decided to join the Cartoon Forum initiative. Today, more than ever, we believe that cross-media is a key in visual entertainment. Last year, for the first time, an animated series (“Welcome to Coccoloba” – “Bienvenue à Coccoloba” for the French edition) was born out of one of our books (“L’Isola”), and this opened the door to a road in which we want to venture further. It will be a great stimulus to confront and get to know the world of animation even better.
