Stockholm-based game studio Paper Play Games, in collaboration with Astrid Lindgren Aktiebolag, offers children worldwide the chance to dive into the beloved universe of the Swedish children’s book character, now with the freedom to create their very own adventures and stories. This new boundless digital dollhouse opens up a whole world of play with the beloved characters and settings from Pippi’s stories.
In the game’s first version Villa Villekulla is the adventure’s hub, but there are already plans to expand the game with more locations and characters from the Pippi stories.
The game is developed by Swedish studio Paper Play Games, an up-and-coming team with a proven track record of creating beloved and high-quality games for millions of players worldwide. The game is available worldwide for iOS and Android.
Jacob Berglund from Paper Play Games, said:
There are so many wonderful scenes, places, and characters from Astrid’s stories to build upon, so if children love the game as much as they love Pippi, we have great opportunities to let the game and the world grow. Pippi’s dad’s pirate ship Hoppetossa with the pirate crew, Pippi at the circus and the candy store in town are some of our own favorite locations, all of which we have clear design visions for. Recreating Astrid Lindgren and illustrator Ingrid Vang Nyman’s magical world of Pippi has been a great honor for us. With ‘World of Pippi Longstocking,’ we want to give children the tools to play freely and create their own stories. We simply invite them into this universe. A universe where nothing is impossible and their imagination is the only limitation.
Johan Palmberg, Content Manager at The Astrid Lindgren Company, added:
We are incredibly happy that a new Pippi game is finally being released, and Paper Play has really captured what makes Pippi so irresistible to children: Pippi does what she wants – there are no rules.
The Astrid Lindgren Company manages all rights to Astrid Lindgren’s works and is owned by Astrid Lindgren’s children and grandchildren. Based in Stockholm, but with operations that span the globe, the company’s mission is both to spread and protect Astrid Lindgren’s authorship.
