Sign-ups for the Animator 2025 competitions are now open!

From 5 to 13 July, 2025, the 18th edition of the Animator International Animated Film Festival will be held in Poznań, Poland, featuring the International Short Film Competition, International Feature Film Competition, International Animated Series Competition, and Polish Animated Film Competition.

The call for films and series for next year’s competitions has been launched. This includes the International Short Film Competition, where the Grand Prix winner is fast-tracked for an Oscar® nomination. Entries of films and series can be submitted until JANUARY 27, 2025 for free via this link: https://filmfreeway.com/ANIMATORFestival

Competition and Categories

International Short Film Competition

GRAND PRIX of the Short Film Competition of the ANIMATOR 2024 Festival.

Grand Prize: Golden Pegasus (45,000 PLN). The film that wins the Golden Pegasus will also be fast-tracked for an Oscar® nomination in the Best Animated Short Film category, making it easier to compete for this prestigious award from the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Second Prize: Silver Pegasus (12,000 PLN)
Third Prize: Bronze Pegasus (6,000 PLN),
Wojciech Juszczak Award for Music Film or Music in Film (2,000 PLN)
Marcin Giżycki Award for Best Student Film (2,000 PLN)

Submissions are invited from art schools, film schools, production companies, film institutions, individual filmmakers, or other rights holders for films created after December 31, 2022, with a runtime of up to 30 minutes and at least 51% animation using any animation technique.

Please note that films from previous editions of the Animator competition, as well as series, trailers, commercials, and opening sequences, are not eligible.

Polish Animated Film Competition

GRAND PRIX of the Polish Competition of the ANIMATOR 2024 Festival

Award for Best Polish Short Film (Grand Prix of the Polish Competition – Golden Animusz) (12,000 PLN)
2nd Prize – Silver Animusz (4,000 PLN),
3rd Prize – Bronze Animusz (2,000 PLN);

Films produced in Poland or by Polish filmmakers abroad, with the co-production involvement of Polish producers, must have a runtime of up to 30 minutes, be created after December 31, 2022, utilize any animation technique (with no less than 51% of the film being animated), and can be submitted by art schools, film schools, production companies, film institutions, individual filmmakers, or other rights holders.

Please note that films from previous editions of the Animator competition, as well as series, trailers, commercials, and opening sequences, are not eligible for the Polish competition.

International Feature Film Competition

Award for Best Feature Film of the ANIMATOR 2024 Festival: Best Feature Film Award (30,000 PLN)

The film must have a runtime of over 40 minutes, be created after December 31, 2022, utilize any animation technique (with at least 51% of the film being animated), and submissions are accepted from film distributors, production companies, film institutions, individual filmmakers, or other rights holders.

International Animated Series Competition

Award for Best Animated Series of the ANIMATOR 2024 Festival – Best Animated Series Award (5,000 PLN)

Eligible submissions for the series competition include single episodes of TV and web series (such as pilot and special episodes, mini-series, and TV movies) that were created after December 31, 2022, with the stipulation that at least 51% of the film must be animated; however, short films, trailers, commercials, and opening sequences are not eligible, and submissions can be made by film distributors, production companies, film institutions, individual filmmakers, or other rights holders.
