The 37th edition of the European Film Awards took place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Culture and Congress Centre (KKL) in Lucerne, Switzerland. This prestigious event celebrated the significant achievements in European cinema and drew considerable attention to the Swiss film scene. The ceremony was streamed and broadcast live by 30 partners from 18 countries, connecting audiences across Europe.
Out of 79 nominees, award winners were honoured in 22 categories, with a star-studded guest list of 1,200 attendees from various sectors of the film and culture community. Notable figures from politics and the arts gathered for the glamorous ceremony at KKL Lucerne, making it a truly memorable night.
This year’s gala was particularly significant as it marked the culmination of the Academy’s initiative, Month of European Film, which had kicked off a month earlier.

Thanks to this event, Switzerland was not only able to prove its qualities as an outstanding host, but also to deepen its cultural network in Europe and further consolidate its international position as a film country.
The European Film Academy revealed the winners, with the highlight of the evening being Emilia Pérez, who took home five awards, including European Film, Director, Screenwriter, Actress, and the Excellence Award for European Editing.
Among the standout moments was the award for European Animated Feature Film, which went to Flow, directed by Gints Zilbalodis, a co-production between Latvia, France, and Belgium.
Other nominees in the category included Living Large, Savages, Sultana’s Dream, and They Shot The Piano Player, showcasing the diverse talent within European animation.
The European Film Awards continues to be recognized as the premier accolade in European cinema, celebrating the exceptional artistry and storytelling of filmmakers across the continent.
