Founded in 1999, Cartoon Movie is a dynamic pitching event designed to foster collaboration among producers, investors, and distributors of animated feature films.
It offers producers a unique opportunity to present their projects to potential financial partners in one place, facilitating co-productions, speeding up financing, and negotiating deals.
Since its inception, over 453 films pitched at Cartoon Movie have successfully secured financing and been released. The event attracts a strong network of international distributors and sales agents from Europe, South America, North America, and Asia, promoting pan-European and global distribution.
This year’s lineup showcases the rich creative diversity of European animation, featuring primarily projects in development (34) and in concept (17), along with 3 films in production and 3 that will be shown in sneak previews.
Countries contributing as main producers include 12 projects from Central and Eastern European nations (Armenia, Czechia, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia), and 8 projects from Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway). The event will showcase a mix of seasoned and emerging talent.
Additionally, 101 distributors and sales agents have already registered for the event.
Nouvelle-Aquitaine is represented by 7 projects, including 6 supported by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region; 4 in production (or co-production) with studios based in Bordeaux; 2 projects involving regional authors, and 1 project supported by the Département Charente.
Latvia is in the spotlight this year with 3 projects, particularly following the success of Flow, the latest work by Latvian director Gints Zilbalodis, which recently won the European Film Award for Best Animated Feature Film 2024 and received a Golden Globes nomination for 2025.
