WildBrain, a global leader in kids’ and family entertainment, is bringing fan-favourite Inspector Gadget to Chinese audiences with China’s national broadcaster, CCTV 6. Additionally, WildBrain is growing the presence of the beloved bionic detective globally through a wave of new sales in other territories.

Wholly owned by WildBrain, the Inspector Gadget IP is one of the most enduring and recognizable entertainment brands, loved by kids and families around the world. WildBrain is producer and global distributor of the popular series and owner of a robust animated library of “classic” Inspector Gadget content that remains popular with audiences around the world.
CCTV 6 has acquired season one of WildBrain’s CG-animated Inspector Gadget series (26 x 30’), which launched on the network in China on July 20, with episodes airing every Saturday, marking the first time that China’s national broadcaster has brought the CG series to its viewers.
Kate Smith, EVP of Audience Engagement at WildBrain, said:
Inspector Gadget continues to be an iconic brand that families worldwide return to time and time again. This launch on CCTV 6 embraces a growing appetite in China for well-known IP with a built-in audience through a new generation of parents and kids. We’re confident that audiences in China will embrace this beloved series.
In the CG series, Dr. Claw has reactivated his global crime syndicate, MAD, and the bumbling, multi-tasking detective has been brought out of retirement to save the world. Tagging along with Gadget is his niece Penny and her trusty dog, Brain.
In Europe, Blue Entertainment has snapped up Inspector Gadget’s Biggest Caper Ever (1 x 60’) and Inspector Gadget’s Last Case (1 x 90’) for its SVOD service, blue Play, for Switzerland and Lichtenstein, while season one of the CG Inspector Gadget series has been picked up by TG4 for Ireland (also to be broadcast in the Irish language on TG4 and Cúla 4).
In a partnership that takes Inspector Gadget onto FAST channels in Germany, LG has signed on for season one of Inspector Gadget’s Field Trip (26 x 30’), seasons one and two of classic Inspector Gadget (86 x 30’), Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas (1 x 30’) and Inspector Gadget’s Last Case (1 x 90’). Additionally, an Inspector Gadget FAST channel is available on Amazon Freevee in Germany and Austria.
Elsewhere, MeTV Toons has picked up seasons one and two of classic Inspector Gadget in the US, along with Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas. Additionally, the first season of the CG Inspector Gadget series is going to Canela.TV in the US and Latin America, Kanopy Kids in the US, Canada and Singapore, VSTV in Vietnam for its K+KIDS channel, and Kartoon Channel in the US, Sub-Saharan Africa, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Vietnam.
