HarperCollins Publishers announced a four-book publishing deal with Emmy Award–winning actress, producer, and entrepreneur Jennifer Aniston, and Invisible Universe, an internet-first family entertainment animation studio.

The publishing program will star Clydeo, an animated dog inspired by Aniston’s real-life rescue dog, Clyde. Launching first on social media in December 2021, Clydeo is the brainchild of Aniston and the creatives at Invisible Universe. Clydeo has garnered hundreds of thousands of followers across his social media platforms and close to 100 million views.

Jennifer Aniston said:

When I decided to partner with Invisible Universe to bring Clydeo to life on social media, I could have never imagined how much joy he would bring to his fans and followers. I could not be more thrilled to be taking Clydeo and his stories to publishing, where he will hopefully inspire children and dog lovers alike with his adorable journey to find his true passion.

Clydeo takes a bite out of life, written by Jennifer Aniston and illustrated by Bruno Jacob, is an heartwarming picture book origin story in which Clydeo discovers that cooking is what makes him shine. Unlike his family members, Clydeo struggles to find his “thing,” leading him on a fun-filled journey of self-discovery and self-confidence. Future Clydeo titles will include a cookbook written by Aniston and Clydeo and two “I Can Read!” leveled readers to follow.

Tricia Biggio, Co-Founder & CEO, Invisible Universe, added:

Clydeo has captured the imaginations of millions of fans across social media with his quick wit, cooking mishaps and loyalty to his friends, especially his best friend, Jennifer Aniston. Now, we’re diving deeper into his backstory with his first ever children’s book! Getting to partner with Jennifer Aniston to bring this character and story to life has been a career high. As a mom of two young boys, I know how important relatable themes are in the stories we read our kids. Clydeo’s journey is one of finding your passion and purpose in life and celebrating all that makes you unique. I can’t wait to share Clydeo Takes a Bite Out of Life with kids and families around the world!

World English rights for the Clydeo program were sold to Nancy Inteli, VP, Publisher at HarperCollins Children’s Books, from Cait Hoyt at CAA, to be published simultaneously in the US and UK in October 2024.

Nancy Inteli stated:

We are incredibly proud to partner with the one and only Jennifer Aniston and Invisible Universe to bring Clydeo’s silliness, kindness, and warmth to life in books. Clydeo Takes a Bite Out of Life is not just a story about an adorable dog’s adventures, but also a celebration of the joy everyone finds in discovering their true passions.
