Based on Unicorn Island, the magazine will be aimed at 5-8 years old girls and focus on the Unicorn and rider combination that makes this franchise so unique. Brand pillars of discovery, adventure, friendship, and magic will flow through each issue to create an interactive, immersive experience that adds extra magic to readers’ enjoyment of the show. Every issue will come with an exclusive Unicorn Academy gift that is linked to the magazine content, but also designed to be enjoyed by fans and played with off-the-page.

Laura Adnitt, Publishing and Brand Management Director at Story House Egmont said:

We are really excited about launching the Unicorn Academy magazine in the UK market. The hugely successful Netflix series, coupled with the relevant and timeless storytelling from the original Unicorn Academy book series published by Nosy Crow, means this IP is the perfect fit for a best-selling magazine format.

Katie Wilkinson, Commercial and Strategy Director at The Point.1888, added:

When we secured this IP, we knew that it would translate wonderfully into a magazine format. We also knew who we wanted to work with in the UK market! We are so happy to bring this magazine to market with Story House Egmont, who prove time-and-time again that they are the home of girls’ market-leading brands!

André Lake Mayer, VP, Global Strategic Partnerships & Consumer Products at Spin Master, said:

We are thrilled to continue the roll-out of the Unicorn Academy licensing programme giving fans deeper engagement into this magical world with its  adventure-packed storytelling and relatable characters. The Unicorn Academy magazine from Story House Egmont will be a wonderful content extension and brand entry point as part of our growing slate of consumer products, high anticipated toy line and even the forthcoming Spin Master epic digital game in 2025.

The Netflix original CGI-animated series, airing in over 190 territories in over 30 languages, recently debuted Chapter 2 which quickly catapulted to the #1 in kids and family across all 92 Netflix markets. The Unicorn Academy magazine will go on sale in October 2024, hot on the hooves of the second drop of the animated series on Netflix, and Spin Master’s own toy launch from August 2024, featuring dolls, play-sets and plush; Unicorn Academy is sure to be front of mind for young fans and their families across the UK.
