Miraculous Corp—the joint venture between Mediawan, Europe’s premier independent production powerhouse, and ZAG, the innovative independent animation studio— announces that BBC Children’s and Education has acquired broadcasting rights to the global hit animated series Miraculous™ – Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.

Miraculous Corp’s award-winning series, created by Thomas Astruc, Nathanaël Bronn, and Jeremy Zag, has captured the hearts of millions worldwide with its unique blend of action, humor, and heartfelt storytelling.

The series follows the lives of two Parisian teenagers, Marinette and Adrien, who transform into the superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir to protect their city from mysterious villains while navigating the challenges of school, friendships, and secret identities.

Maria Doolan, Head of Content Partnerships and Distribution at Miraculous Corp, commented:

CBBC is dedicated to delivering high-quality children’s programming that entertains and inspires. With this agreement, fans can look forward to enjoying the full breadth of Miraculous storytelling on CBBC, from the show’s beginnings to its latest thrilling episodes and special event features.

In addition to the six seasons which span 156 half-hours, the five Miraculous World TV Event specials expand the adventures of Ladybug and Cat Noir beyond Paris, taking them to exciting new locations and introducing fresh characters.

  • In Miraculous World: New York – United HeroeZ, the duo travel to New York City to join forces with American superheroes against a new threat.
  • Miraculous World: Shanghai – The Legend of LadyDragon brings them to Shanghai, where Marinette meets a resourceful, street-smart girl,  who helps her to discover the existence of a new magical jewel.
  • Miraculous World: Paris – Tales of Shadybug and Claw Noir explores a parallel universe with darker versions of Ladybug and Cat Noir.
  • In Miraculous World: London – At The Edge of Time, Marinette becomes Chronobug and teams up with Bunnyx to defeat a mysterious opponent who travels through time.
  • Details of the fifth Miraculous World TV Event special are not yet available.

Sarah Muller, Senior Head of Commissioning 7+ at BBC, said:

We have always loved Miraculous and are so excited to be bringing it to our CBBC audience who we know will love it as much we do. The show’s exciting mix of action-packed plots, relatable characters, and themes of courage, teamwork, and responsibility make it a standout addition to CBBC’s lineup of family-friendly content.

In the UK, Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir is also available on Disney+ which holds the first window streaming rights, Pop TV, and Netflix (seasons 1-4 + 2 TV Event specials).
