Almond Entertainment and Kreiworks Entertainment have announced the co-production of a new 6 to 12 animated series: Socci & Plato.
Based on the hit comic series by bestselling author Philip Osbourne and illustrated by renowned Roberta Procacci, the series blends humour, philosophy, and mischief into a uniquely engaging show —perfect for young audiences with curious minds.
Socci & Plato follows the hilarious adventures of two eccentric philosophy teachers at the Middle School of Athens. Socci is a hyperactive comic-book nerd who can’t stand writing, while Plato is a dreamy intellectual who refuses to transcribe his and Socci’s endless philosophical ramblings. Together, they transform classical philosophy into wildly unpredictable, laugh-out-loud experiments that defy school rules—and sometimes, reality itself.
“With Socci & Plato, we’re turning ancient philosophy into pop culture,” said Dario Gulli, Creative Director of Almond Entertainment. “This IP stands at the intersection of comedy, education, and mischief—exactly the kind of innovative storytelling Almond champions.”
Lina Foti, Managing Director a founder of Kreiworks, adds: “Socci & Plato make big ideas, fun. We’re using humour and mischief to spark critical thinking in kids. It’s clever, subversive, and totally empowering for our young thinkers.”
Almond and Kreiworks are jointly developing a multi-platform strategy to bring the Socci & Plato universe to life across screens, shelves, and beyond. This includes an animated series, webtoons, social media content, video games, and a merchandise line—designed to immerse audiences in a uniquely philosophical world that never takes itself too seriously.
The project’s first phase has already launched with a six-volume graphic novel and comic book series, published in collaboration with SAE Comics (Italy). Visually inspired by classic European comics and Japanese anime, the books mix humour, education, and satire—an approach that will carry through into the animated adaptation.
This marks the latest addition to Almond’s growing animation slate, following successes such as Martin’s Adventures and Arnold and the Benchwarmers, and aligns with its strategy to build inclusive, educational, and global IPs. For Kreiworks, Socci & Plato marks a bold step forward in cross-media storytelling and next-generation entertainment formats. The series will be officially presented to international Frankfurt Book Messe 2025 later this year.
