MEDIATOON DISTRIBUTION, subsidiary of the European entertainment powerhouse Média- Participations, along with ANKAMA ANIMATIONS, has announced the expansion of their partnership.
Mediatoon Distribution will handle the international sales of the upcoming kids animated show MONTCLAIR & THE MECHANICAL MYSTERIES, currently in production and expected to be fully delivered in Spring 2026. Commissioned by France Télévisions, the adventure/fantasy series counts 26 episodes of 22 minutes each, and targets children aged 6 to 9.
Coproduced by PICTANOVO and BELVISION, sister company of Mediatoon, the show is already presold to TV5Monde.
Transporting us to the iconic and magical setting of early 20th century Paris, the series follows Montclair, a young inventor brimming with ideas. Each episode throws him into a new challenge against Hector de la Tour, a clumsy villain determined to conquer the world with his maleficent machine. Hector’s imagination knows no bounds as he targets everything from the gargoyles of Notre-Dame to the Louvre’s mummies, and even the mysterious Phantom of the Opera! To stop him, Montclair must constantly imagine, build, and test new inventions – each one more unexpected than the last.
Joining Montclair on his quest are Abigail, a ghost escaped from a Scottish castle, along with Lison and Emile, the intrepid neighbors. With their missions unfolding across Paris’s most iconic landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower and Montmartre, the eclectic group embarks on a series of fantastic adventures, blending creative flair and teamwork to always save the day.
MONTCLAIR & THE MECHANICAL MYSTERIES is adapted from the 16 volumes of the French book collection Les Aventures Fantastiques de Sacré-Cœur, published by PETIT LEZARD and in pocket format by GALLIMARD. The animated series expands this rich universe, introducing new antagonists, settings, and intriguing plots. Creativity drives the narrative forward: Montclair’s whimsical inventions help him navigate every challenge. This passion for imagination andhandiwork also inspired the book illustrator Laurent Audouin to launch a traveling exhibition, offering playful craft workshops to children.
Morgann Favennec, Deputy Manager of Mediatoon Distribution, says: “We couldn’t be more excited about Ankama’s latest top-tier production! Every new visual and script reveals a Paris full of surprises – familiar in some ways, but with a magical twist that makes you see it differently. The creative team is bursting with ideas, and it really shows in this fresh and exciting take on the city”.
Patricia Robert, Director of Audiovisual at Ankama Animations, adds: “We are delighted to continue our collaboration with Mediatoon Distribution on MONTCLAIR & THE MECHANICAL MYSTERIES. Their expertise and international reach are valuable assets in supporting this ambitious series. This partnership marks a promising new chapter for Ankama Animations”.
The partnership follows the recent announcements of collaborations between Mediatoon Distribution and third parties such as Bayard, Moukda, and Primal Shape. Mediatoon Distribution, part of the European media group Média-Participations, which features a strong audiovisual production hub (Ellipse Animation, Belvision, Studio Campedelli), continues to strengthen its partnerships with other producers to enrich and diversify the distributor’s lineup.
